Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Auto, Healthcare and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.32%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which rose 3.30% or 43.75 points to trade at 1,369.95 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.49% or 77.55 points to end at 3,194.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.19% or 13.30 points to 620.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 2.26% or 25.20 points to trade at 1,090.00 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 2.26% or 33.80 points to end at 1,464.00 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 1.81% or 60.65 points to 3,297.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 2.47% to 3,194.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.17% to settle at 1,737.55 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 0.97% to close at 2,996.35.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.59% to 1,458.70 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 2.39% to settle at 1,088.70 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 1.68% to 5,060.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1044 to 1010 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1830 rose and 1680 declined, while 111 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.92% to 11.82 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 2.25 to $2,007.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.00% or 0.82 to hit $83.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.84 to trade at $87.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.25, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 88.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 105.81.
