Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 6.57% or 337.65 points to trade at 5,475.00 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 6.01% or 309.80 points to end at 5,465.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 3.80% or 119.85 points to 3,273.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 3.04% or 12.40 points to trade at 395.05 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 1.52% or 18.10 points to end at 1,169.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) shed 1.46% or 16.80 points to 1,136.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which rose 5.88% to 5,460.00, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 3.66% to settle at 24,122.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.83% to close at 8,514.80.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.99% to 395.20 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 1.29% to settle at 1,170.70 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.10% to 239.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1032 to 1007 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1810 rose and 1755 declined, while 131 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 10.90.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 5.45 to $1,962.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.17% or 1.02 to hit $86.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 1.19 to trade at $90.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 87.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 106.31.
