Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.14% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which rose 6.39% or 7.20 points to trade at 119.80 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 2.80% or 67.50 points to end at 2479.00 and Wipro Ltd . (NS:WIPR) was up 2.42% or 11.50 points to 486.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which lost 2.24% or 23.45 points to trade at 1024.05 in late trade. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 1.71% or 20.70 points to end at 1186.80 and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) shed 1.58% or 10.70 points to 667.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.99% to 2481.65, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.53% to settle at 485.55 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.73% to close at 1009.05.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.07% to 1182.60 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.10% to settle at 1008.80 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.09% to 199.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 889 to 617 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1506 fell and 1196 advanced, while 188 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.19% to 13.4000.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.42% or 5.15 to $1238.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.34% or 0.72 to hit $54.31 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 0.72 to trade at $56.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 66.826, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 70.4908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.35.
