Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 4.21% or 311.10 points to trade at 7,695.90 at the close. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 3.61% or 11.05 points to end at 317.25 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was up 3.57% or 38.70 points to 1,123.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which lost 1.68% or 99.45 points to trade at 5,832.45 in late trade. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.55% or 7.15 points to end at 453.90 and LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) shed 1.41% or 84.05 points to 5,877.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 4.44% to 7,709.95, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 3.54% to settle at 317.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 2.93% to close at 1,648.50.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.70% to 5,830.00 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which lost 1.52% to settle at 5,869.15 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.18% to 1,420.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1446 to 688 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2466 rose and 1236 declined, while 100 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.44% to 13.33.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 13.90 to $2,056.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.13% or 0.82 to hit $73.52 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.71 to trade at $78.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 91.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 101.93.
