Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Green Energy and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.26%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which rose 3.05% or 14.70 points to trade at 497.45 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.17% or 124.10 points to end at 5,834.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 2.09% or 26.45 points to 1,294.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 1.97% or 7.05 points to trade at 351.50 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 1.55% or 2.75 points to end at 174.35 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) shed 1.43% or 3.10 points to 213.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 2.18% to 1,294.95, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.16% to settle at 5,833.85 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.65% to close at 971.95.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.50% to 174.60 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 0.66% to settle at 849.50 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 0.55% to 18,810.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1166 to 729 and 81 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1960 rose and 1422 declined, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.82% to 14.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 2.65 to $1,943.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $69.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.32 to trade at $75.00 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 82.63, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 89.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 102.72.
