Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Insurance and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.01%, while the MDAX index gained 0.03%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 6.48% or 0.890 points to trade at 14.615 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.83% or 1.85 points to end at 103.20 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.51% or 0.260 points to 17.445 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 2.39% or 4.30 points to trade at 175.60 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 1.91% or 2.75 points to end at 141.40 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 1.35% or 0.112 points to 8.154.
The top performers on the MDAX were Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which rose 4.31% to 34.865, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was up 2.70% to settle at 14.440 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 1.60% to close at 53.330.
The worst performers were RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was down 1.53% to 73.260 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 1.46% to settle at 55.920 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 1.45% to 40.565 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 8.64% to 51.120, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 1.76% to settle at 79.660 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.56% to close at 49.325.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 2.88% to 102.70 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 2.27% to settle at 10.350 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.59% to 25.625 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 429 to 311 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.61% to 14.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1203.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.84% or 0.89 to hit $47.51 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.71 to trade at $50.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.0635, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 101.39.
