Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.44%, while the MDAX index declined 0.74%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 4.96% or 0.464 points to trade at 9.814 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.76% or 0.235 points to end at 13.595 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.72% or 0.111 points to 6.583 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which lost 2.25% or 0.365 points to trade at 15.850 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.56% or 0.195 points to end at 12.305 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) shed 1.49% or 0.48 points to 31.66.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 2.91% to 50.420, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 2.15% to settle at 49.830 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 1.73% to close at 78.640.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was down 3.98% to 71.180 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 3.68% to settle at 82.500 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.50% to 31.140 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 1.91% to 55.090, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 1.70% to settle at 77.900 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.68% to close at 16.300.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.61% to 24.990 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 2.63% to settle at 25.365 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 2.49% to 6.514 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 514 to 361 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.06% to 19.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.90 to $1258.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.48% or 0.76 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 0.84 to trade at $52.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.67% to 1.1061, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.9047.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.66% at 97.55.
