Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 4.60% or 0.71 points to trade at 16.13 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 3.25% or 0.83 points to end at 26.39 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was up 2.42% or 0.40 points to 16.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 4.08% or 0.27 points to trade at 6.35 in late trade. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) declined 2.34% or 0.75 points to end at 31.25 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) shed 2.16% or 1.39 points to 63.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 196 to 175 and 52 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.14% to 31.20.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.90% or 11.25 to $1245.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.40% or 0.63 to hit $44.34 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.28% or 0.35 to trade at $126.30 .
USD/BRL was down 0.20% to 3.2821, while EUR/BRL fell 0.63% to 3.6590.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 97.23.
