Forrestania Resources Ltd (ASX:FRS) and joint venture (JV) partner ALX Resources have remobilised a lithium exploration crew to the Volta area of the Hydra Lithium Project in the lithium-rich James Bay area of Canada, resuming a program of fieldwork that was halted due to forest fires in the region.
Forrestania holds Hydra in a 50:50 JV with ALX, formed to search for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) bearing pegmatites with ALX as the operator.
The Volta area of the project is about 20 kilometres east of the Corvette Deposit, owned by Patriot Battery Metals, which holds an inferred resource estimate of 109.2 million tonnes at 1.42% lithium.
Highly prospective target area
“We are delighted to finally be getting on the ground at Volta, which given its proximity to the Corvette property, is unquestionably one of Hydra’s most prospective sub-projects,” Forrestania Resources managing director Michael Anderson said.
“We are also grateful for the support of our JV partner ALX, whose persistence has enabled us to carry out this work before the end of the current field season.
“We look forward to reporting our findings and sampling results in due course.”
In September, ALX completed an airborne light detection and ranging (LIDAR) and orthophoto survey at Volta to better identify regions prospective for pegmatites.
The company says helicopter-assisted prospecting work at Volta is aided by remote sensing studies optimised for pegmatite detection.
Surface mapping and sampling is planned to continue for up to a week, or for as long as weather conditions allow.
Results will be released upon their receipt, compilation and interpretation.
