Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 2.46% to hit a new 6-months low.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Ferrari NV (MI:RACE), which rose 0.02% or 0.01 points to trade at 44.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Italcementi (MI:ITAI) fell 0.29% or 0.030 points to end at 10.210 and A2A (MI:A2) was down 0.65% or 0.008 points to 1.230 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED), which fell 6.34% or 0.435 points to trade at 6.425 at the close. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) declined 5.20% or 0.4350 points to end at 7.9300 and Anima Holding SpA (MI:ANIM) was down 4.56% or 0.36 points to 7.53.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 324 to 77 and 7 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ferrari NV (MI:RACE) rose to all time highs; rising 0.02% or 0.01 to 44.60. Shares in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.20% or 0.4350 to 7.9300.

Crude oil for February delivery was down 4.61% or 1.66 to $34.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 5.01% or 1.82 to hit $34.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.16% or 12.50 to trade at $1090.90 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.0758, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.7356.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 99.48.
