Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Trading & Consumer Goods and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399), which rose 9.97% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.40 at the close. APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449) added 9.94% or 5.30 points to end at 58.60 and Lien Chang Electronic Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:2431) was up 9.92% or 1.30 points to 14.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gamma Optical Co Ltd (TW:3557), which lost 6.49% or 1.200 points to trade at 17.300 in late trade. Chroma ATE Inc (TW:2360) declined 5.09% or 8.50 points to end at 158.50 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 4.70% or 0.90 points to 18.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 516 to 277 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.35% or 0.22 to $63.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $67.16 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.79% or 10.50 to trade at $1340.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 29.225, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2163.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 89.57.
