Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.77% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 3.38% or 0.385 points to trade at 11.780 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) added 3.09% or 0.650 points to end at 21.680 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was up 2.56% or 0.775 points to 31.025 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Enagas (MC:ENAG), which lost 1.82% or 0.425 points to trade at 22.900 in late trade. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) declined 0.46% or 0.05 points to end at 10.79 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) shed 0.40% or 0.050 points to 12.550.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 65 and 11 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.18% or 2.15 to $1229.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $51.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0749, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8675.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.07.
