Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Telus International Cda Inc (TSX:TIXT), which rose 6.64% or 0.59 points to trade at 9.47 at the close. Interfor Corp (TSX:IFP) added 6.29% or 1.20 points to end at 20.28 and Secure Energy Services Inc . (TSX:SES) was up 3.40% or 0.27 points to 8.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX:EDR), which lost 5.48% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.93 in late trade. First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX:FR) declined 4.22% or 0.28 points to end at 6.35 and IGM Financial Inc . (TSX:IGM) shed 4.13% or 1.41 points to 32.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 594 to 398 and 86 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 2.90% to 14.55.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.74% or 14.75 to $1,984.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.41% or 0.33 to hit $80.84 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.29 to trade at $85.18 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.25% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 105.11.
