At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR), which rose 8.22% or 0.36 points to trade at 4.74 at the close. Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TO:TRQ) added 7.51% or 0.260 points to end at 3.720 and Bonterra Energy Corp (TO:BNE) was up 6.40% or 1.12 points to 18.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (TO:CMG), which lost 4.44% or 0.47 points to trade at 10.12 in late trade. Asanko Gold Inc (TO:AKG) declined 2.99% or 0.090 points to end at 2.920 and Aimia Inc (TO:AIM) shed 2.64% or 0.07 points to 2.58.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 730 to 354 and 151 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.79% to 13.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.17% or 2.11 to $1254.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.15% or 1.06 to hit $50.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.18 to trade at $53.69 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.64% to 0.7398, while CAD/EUR fell 0.23% to 0.6604.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 97.03.
