Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Wholesale & Retail Trade, Tourism and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Ford Otomotiv Sanayi AS (IS:FROTO), which rose 2.96% or 1.22 points to trade at 42.42 at the close. Alcatel Lucent Teletas Telekomunikasyon AS (IS:ALCTL) added 2.49% or 0.270 points to end at 11.120 and Galatasaray Sportif Sinai ve Ticari Yatirimlar AS (IS:GSRAY) was up 2.27% or 0.72 points to 32.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ODAS Elektrik Uretim Sanayi Ticaret AS (IS:ODAS), which lost 3.61% or 0.190 points to trade at 5.080 in late trade. Tekfen Holding AS (IS:TKFEN) declined 3.33% or 0.30 points to end at 8.72 and Ayen Enerji AS (IS:AYEN) shed 3.15% or 0.140 points to 4.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 267 to 100 and 41 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 5.24 to $1292.26 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.48% or 2.16 to hit $46.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.55% or 1.78 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.04% to 3.5516, while EUR/TRY rose 0.65% to 3.9913.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 96.78.
