Boadicea Resources Ltd (ASX:BOA) is heralding a broader industry trend in welcoming gender diversity to its board with the appointment of seasoned geophysicist Cath Norman as managing director with immediate effect.

Norman’s appointment follows an extensive search for a key talent to lead the next phase of the company’s growth and to create shareholder wealth ahead of the retirements of non-executive chairman Domenic De Marco and managing director Jon Reynolds as directors at the upcoming board meeting on November 1.

With more than three decades of experience in minerals and oil and gas exploration, she has held executive positions both in Australia and the United Kingdom, in addition to operating in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

Her extensive experience extends to areas such as asset capture and monetisation, capital markets, finance, joint ventures, Environmental, Social, and Governance, and company management.

New leadership style

“We are exceptionally privileged Cath Norman is keen to join the Boadicea board,” Boadicea non-executive director James Barrie said.

“To have such a high-calibre resources industry executive keen to join our board is testament to the attractive projects and locations we are working in and the sound governance framework in place.

“Cath’s appointment provides shareholders with confidence the company’s strong exploration focus will be driven with a new style of vigour and direction with the aim of realising the potential of the company’s undervalued assets.”

Experienced corporate executive

Norman will present her vision and direction for the company to shareholders at the annual meeting scheduled for next month.

The new managing director has a noteworthy track record of exploration success.

She previously helmed ASX-listed FAR Ltd (ASX:FAR), where her leadership resulted in a successful exploration and oil discovery offshore Senegal in West Africa.

The discovery was acclaimed as the world's largest for the year 2014.

She was managing director at FAR from 2011 to 2022.

More recently, Norman led graphite miner Lincoln Minerals Ltd (ASX:LML) out of long-term suspension from the Australian Securities Exchange, a position she held until July 2023.

She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and several other professional organisations.

Aims to unlock asset potential

“Boadicea has an impressive portfolio of quality tenements in highly prospective locations in Australia,” Norman said.

“I am looking forward to leading the team as we work towards unlocking the full potential of our assets located in high quality exploration real estate.

“Being aligned to the exploration of metals that drive the energy transition, underpinned by our gold assets for stability, puts Boadicea in a unique position in the market and that will drive shareholder value.”

The new Boadicea Board, effective November 1, will comprise Norman, Barrie and Graeme Purcell.
