Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.32%, while the MDAX index lost 0.11%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 2.11% or 0.500 points to trade at 24.195 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 0.60% or 0.65 points to end at 109.00 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 0.37% or 0.350 points to 95.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 1.78% or 1.740 points to trade at 95.910 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.29% or 0.47 points to end at 35.50 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) shed 1.05% or 0.930 points to 87.290.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which rose 4.29% to 106.850, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 2.00% to settle at 49.095 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 1.88% to close at 4.55.
The worst performers were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 2.84% to 19.530 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 2.27% to settle at 10.78 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.24% to 53.590 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 1.00% to 54.640, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 0.69% to settle at 12.963 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 0.63% to close at 38.98.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 5.69% to 10.945 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which lost 3.20% to settle at 40.800 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 3.03% to 67.920 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 471 to 282 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.77% to 12.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.21% or 2.57 to $1246.07 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.74% or 0.32 to hit $43.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.42 to trade at $45.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1144, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8802.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.37.
