Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.09% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 5.85% or 2.32 points to trade at 41.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 3.63% or 0.52 points to end at 14.85 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 3.51% or 1.03 points to 30.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 7.40% or 0.29 points to trade at 3.63 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 7.14% or 0.08 points to end at 1.04 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was down 5.38% or 0.64 points to 11.26.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 179 to 120 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.40% or 0.29 to 3.63. Shares in ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) fell to all time lows; losing 7.14% or 0.08 to 1.04. Shares in Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.38% or 0.64 to 11.26.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.19% to 32.37.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.97% or 10.70 to $1092.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.59% or 0.75 to trade at $125.53 .
USD/BRL was up 1.81% to 3.2290, while EUR/BRL rose 1.66% to 3.5263.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.62.
