Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN) continues to grow the kaolin and halloysite potential at its flagship Great White project in South Australia thanks to two emerging prospects.
Chairlift
ADN has defined an exploration target at its Chairlift prospect as part of its mission to seek out high bright white kaolin (meaning the material is above the +80 ISO B brightness grade).
Over April and May this year, the explorer drilled 28 aircore holes at Chairlift, covering just under 900 metres.
The exploration ground covered several square kilometres worth of high bright white kaolin content, including four holes that intercepted ultra-bright white kaolin (above an 80 ISO B rating).
As such, aircore drilling has defined a conceptual exploration target that’s estimated to host between 80 million tonnes and 120 million tonnes of high bright white kaolin.
Halfpipe
Beyond Chairlift, Andromeda is also on the hunt for kaolin-halloysite at Great White’s Halfpipe prospect, where it also completed an aircore program.
Twenty-four aircore holes, spanning 1,173 metres, were completed at Halfpipe, where at least 20% halloysite was reported in 12 drill holes.
As such, interim assays point to extensive high-halloysite kaolin at Halfpipe, cementing its potential as a complementary Great White target.
Next steps
The next phase of drilling, which will focus on selected areas of the Chairlift exploration target, is slated for 2023.
Andromeda is stepping out in the hopes of establishing a mineral resource, which will grow incrementally with later drill campaigns.
Once it secures the brightness results from its Halfpipe drill campaign, Andromeda will deliver another market update.
Big picture
The Chairlift and Halfpipe halloysite results are the first reported results using Andromeda’s HDE analysis, a proprietary method developed by Andromeda for halloysite determination.
ADN describes the process as a cost-effective and timely way to determine halloysite grade control to support the development and operational planning of the halloysite-kaolin mine at the Great White deposit.
More broadly, Chairlift is 58 kilometres southeast and Halfpipe 35 kilometres northwest of the Great White mining tenement, meaning there’s scope to expand the inherent kaolin resource.
Andromeda managing director James Marsh said: “These initial results support the high-halloysite potential of the area surrounding Andromeda’s Great White Project.
“Both the Chairlift and Halfpipe prospects demonstrate the capacity for Andromeda to expand our existing resources and for the Eyre Peninsula to become a globally significant halloysite-kaolin producing region.”
