Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.43% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.27% or 1.570 points to trade at 70.720 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.60% or 0.64 points to end at 40.41 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.08% or 0.35 points to 32.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 2.32% or 1.510 points to trade at 63.600 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.47% or 0.66 points to end at 43.86 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 1.25% or 0.56 points to 43.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 56 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.57% or 7.13 to $1252.93 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.39% or 0.59 to hit $43.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.73 to trade at $45.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1151, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8803.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.27.
