Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Financial Services and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sharp Corp. (T:6753), which rose 1.49% or 2.0 points to trade at 136.5 at the close. Nippon Soda Co., Ltd. (T:4041) added 1.42% or 6.0 points to end at 430.0 and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (T:8802) was up 1.12% or 21.0 points to 1888.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fukuoka Financial Group, Inc. (T:8354), which lost 5.23% or 23.0 points to trade at 417.0 in late trade. Tosoh Corp. (T:4042) declined 5.21% or 34.0 points to end at 618.0 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) shed 4.99% or 42.0 points to 800.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1728 to 265 and 68 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.99% to 22.14.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.17% or 0.56 to $47.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.28% or 0.64 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.90 to trade at $1326.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.15% to 100.88, while EUR/JPY fell 0.27% to 113.06.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.49.
