Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Moncler SpA (MI:MONC), which rose 4.61% or 0.69 points to trade at 15.66 at the close. Finmeccanica (MI:SIFI) added 3.76% or 0.390 points to end at 10.770 and Prysmian (MI:PRY) was up 2.09% or 0.44 points to 21.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which lost 9.09% or 0.4400 points to trade at 4.4000 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 6.38% or 0.0355 points to end at 0.5210 and Mediaset (MI:MS) shed 4.90% or 0.192 points to 3.726.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 307 to 98 and 17 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.96% or 1.32 to $45.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.58% or 1.63 to hit $47.15 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.57% or 7.20 to trade at $1272.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1430, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.7902.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 93.76.
