Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Transport and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Services, Insurance and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.03%, while the ADX General index declined 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 4.17% or 0.05 points to trade at 1.25 at the close. Meanwhile, SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) added 2.67% or 0.010 points to end at 0.385 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was up 1.56% or 0.020 points to 1.300 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which fell 7.27% or 0.032 points to trade at 0.408 at the close. Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD) declined 3.23% or 0.200 points to end at 6.000 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was down 2.35% or 0.015 points to 0.624.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which rose 1.96% to 0.510, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was up 1.80% to settle at 5.65 and Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which gained 0.53% to close at 5.65.
The worst performers were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 7.95% to 0.81 in late trade, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which lost 6.67% to settle at 0.300 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was down 4.00% to 0.4800 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 15 to 14; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 14 fell and 7 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.95% or 0.07 to 0.81.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.51% or 0.77 to $31.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.99% or 0.61 to hit $31.57 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.27% or 2.90 to trade at $1082.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.29% to 3.9762.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 99.26.
