Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Industrials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Financial Services, Media and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.18%, while the MDAX index lost 0.08%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.78% or 3.300 points to trade at 121.800 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 1.16% or 0.081 points to end at 7.081 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was up 0.88% or 1.000 points to 114.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 1.48% or 1.110 points to trade at 74.030 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRK) declined 1.03% or 0.820 points to end at 79.040 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) shed 0.60% or 0.460 points to 76.490.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which rose 4.47% to 29.200, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 1.83% to settle at 46.180 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which gained 1.52% to close at 44.986.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.56% to 53.970 in late trade, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which lost 2.35% to settle at 26.855 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 2.09% to 8.52 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 2.92% to 24.105, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.09% to settle at 215.300 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 1.73% to close at 3.521.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 6.69% to 8.281 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 4.151 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.52% to 24.62 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 440 to 406 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.65% to 22.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.82% or 23.20 to $1295.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.81% or 0.80 to hit $45.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.82% or 0.82 to trade at $45.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1425, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.7914.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 93.65.
