Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.30% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 2.56% or 0.141 points to trade at 5.650 at the close. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 2.51% or 0.810 points to end at 33.105 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 2.27% or 0.212 points to 9.559 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gas Natural (MC:GAS), which lost 0.80% or 0.155 points to trade at 19.160 in late trade. Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE) declined 0.32% or 0.065 points to end at 19.985 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) shed 0.20% or 0.055 points to 27.105.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 49 and 27 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.48% or 6.45 to $1347.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.36% or 0.61 to hit $45.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 0.68 to trade at $47.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1231, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8428.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.03.
