Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 8.13% or 0.26 points to trade at 3.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) added 6.40% or 0.27 points to end at 4.49 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 6.29% or 0.50 points to 8.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which fell 4.90% or 0.77 points to trade at 14.96 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 4.69% or 0.41 points to end at 8.34 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was down 4.66% or 0.74 points to 15.13.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 184 to 127 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.66% or 0.74 to 15.13.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.65% to 55.87 a new 6-months high.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.16% or 1.80 to $1122.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.60% or 0.75 to hit $46.00 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.36% or 0.42 to trade at $119.22 .
USD/BRL was up 2.88% to 3.8495, while EUR/BRL rose 3.17% to 4.2924.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.25.
