Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Rubber, Other Electronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.00% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yoko Tech (TW:6131), which rose 9.98% or 0.83 points to trade at 9.15 at the close. Chi Mei Materi (TW:4960) added 9.95% or 1.90 points to end at 21.00 and Eson (TW:5243) was up 9.91% or 2.80 points to 31.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gintech (TW:3514), which lost 6.69% or 2.25 points to trade at 31.40 in late trade. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) declined 5.32% or 0.10 points to end at 1.78 and Taiflex (TW:8039) shed 5.20% or 2.05 points to 37.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 493 to 256 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.84% or 0.27 to $31.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.73% or 0.25 to hit $34.16 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1238.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.54% to 33.303, while TWD/CNY rose 0.31% to 0.1971.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.42.
