Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which rose 9.26% or 0.064 points to trade at 0.755 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 8.70% or 0.020 points to end at 0.250 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was up 7.21% or 0.008 points to 0.125 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 9.40% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.135 in late trade. Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics SA (AT:OPAr) declined 6.36% or 0.445 points to end at 6.555 and ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) shed 3.78% or 0.130 points to 3.310.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 42 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.31% or 4.00 to $1266.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.63% or 0.31 to hit $49.44 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.31 to trade at $50.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1351, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.7680.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 93.54.
