Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Retail and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 1.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iaso (AT:IASr), which rose 10.00% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.440 at the close. Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) added 7.79% or 0.1200 points to end at 1.6600 and Autohellas (AT:AUTr) was up 7.30% or 0.76 points to 11.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which lost 14.61% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.152 in late trade. ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) declined 5.33% or 0.16 points to end at 2.84 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) shed 4.35% or 0.01 points to 0.22.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 26 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.44% or 5.50 to $1257.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.67% or 1.34 to hit $37.84 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.12 to trade at $40.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1016, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7743.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.05.
