Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 2.85%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 12.81% or 0.53 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 11.87% or 0.35 points to end at 3.32 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 5.87% or 0.74 points to 13.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DSM Kon (AS:DSMN), which fell 0.70% or 0.30 points to trade at 43.36 at the close. TNT Express (AS:TNTE) declined 0.30% or 0.024 points to end at 7.891 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was up 1.19% or 0.87 points to 74.19.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 143 to 30 and 8 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.61% to 29.41.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 6.61% or 1.92 to $30.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 7.52% or 2.42 to hit $34.60 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.20 to trade at $1206.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1139, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7780.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.81.
