Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 2.72%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 10.34% or 0.31 points to trade at 3.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) added 5.77% or 1.06 points to end at 19.41 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 4.60% or 0.55 points to 12.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TNT Express (AS:TNTE), which fell 0.12% or 0.009 points to trade at 7.760 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:ING) added 0.77% or 0.080 points to end at 10.525 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 1.32% or 0.29 points to 22.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 135 to 32 and 11 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.96% to 31.55.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 5.34% or 1.51 to $29.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 5.90% or 1.65 to hit $29.52 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.98% or 10.80 to trade at $1095.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.0833, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.7620.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 99.41.
