Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 6.47% or 0.0059 points to trade at 0.0969 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 6.07% or 0.0368 points to end at 0.6426 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 4.96% or 3.74 points to 79.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 2.93% or 5500 points to trade at 182000 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) declined 1.92% or 23 points to end at 1178 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) shed 1.92% or 0.0345 points to 1.7600.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 123 to 95 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.14% to 35.640.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.38% or 4.70 to $1224.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.15% or 1.85 to hit $37.74 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 5.20% or 1.97 to trade at $39.84 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.90% to 67.9480, while EUR/RUB fell 0.82% to 77.659.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 94.33.
