Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Sunday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Finance & Investment and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 3.25% to hit a new 1-month low, while the ADX General index fell 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 15.00% or 0.105 points to trade at 0.805 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 6.12% or 0.120 points to end at 2.080 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 1.710 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which lost 5.71% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.320 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 5.59% or 0.031 points to end at 0.524 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) shed 5.51% or 0.028 points to 0.480.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which rose 5.95% to 0.8900, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which was up 0.45% to settle at 2.220 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 6.72.
The worst performers were Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was down 6.12% to 0.460 in late trade, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which lost 5.88% to settle at 3.200 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was down 5.06% to 0.7500 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 29 to 4 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 24 fell and 3 advanced on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 5.09% or 2.55 to $47.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $49.04 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.39% or 55.40 to trade at $1318.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 2.34% to 4.0858.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.46% at 95.63.
