Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Household, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 6.25% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.119 at the close. Reds (AT:CAMr) added 5.48% or 0.017 points to end at 0.330 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 5.35% or 0.016 points to 0.315 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 8.70% or 0.0160 points to trade at 0.1880 in late trade. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) declined 6.40% or 0.011 points to end at 0.161 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) shed 5.43% or 0.250 points to 4.350.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 36 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.45 to $1323.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.80% or 0.90 to hit $48.98 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 0.99 to trade at $50.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1107, while EUR/GBP rose 1.07% to 0.8375.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.96.
