Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which rose 3.92% or 0.59 points to trade at 15.65 at the close. Meanwhile, BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3) added 3.81% or 0.39 points to end at 10.63 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 3.75% or 0.47 points to 13.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 5.64% or 2.65 points to trade at 44.30 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 5.18% or 2.92 points to end at 53.40 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 5.05% or 0.32 points to 6.02.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 160 to 157 and 4 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.74% to 52.10.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.28% or 14.40 to $1106.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.50% or 1.61 to hit $44.33 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.37% or 0.45 to trade at $121.17 .
USD/BRL was down 0.52% to 3.7983, while EUR/BRL fell 0.43% to 4.2594.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.95.
