Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Optoelectronic and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.60% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Solytech (TW:1471), which rose 9.62% or 0.51 points to trade at 5.81 at the close. Epistar (TW:2448) added 8.39% or 2.40 points to end at 31.00 and Right Way Ind (TW:1506) was up 7.47% or 1.55 points to 22.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aopen (TW:3046), which lost 7.18% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.78 in late trade. Elitegroup Com (TW:2331) declined 5.25% or 1.25 points to end at 22.55 and Min Aik (TW:3060) shed 5.20% or 1.85 points to 33.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 447 to 330 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.37% or 0.18 to $49.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.43% or 0.22 to hit $51.84 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.41% or 5.05 to trade at $1228.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.37% to 30.425, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2268.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 100.06.
