Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.96% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 6.85% or 1.10 points to trade at 17.15 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 4.23% or 0.290 points to end at 7.140 and Itausa - Investimentos Itau SA (SA:ITSA4) was up 4.08% or 0.37 points to 9.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which lost 2.59% or 0.12 points to trade at 4.51 in late trade. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) declined 2.56% or 0.49 points to end at 18.64 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) shed 2.21% or 0.40 points to 17.69.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 202 to 183 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.97% to 32.05.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.95 to $1278.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.02% or 1.96 to hit $46.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.02% or 1.68 to trade at $163.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.53% to 3.1895, while EUR/BRL fell 0.59% to 3.5020.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 98.33.
