Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.12% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MC:ITX), which rose 2.43% or 0.800 points to trade at 33.680 at the close. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) added 2.40% or 0.785 points to end at 33.425 and Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE) was up 1.92% or 0.350 points to 18.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 0.75% or 0.059 points to trade at 7.795 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 0.70% or 0.085 points to end at 12.025 and Acciona (MC:ANA) shed 0.20% or 0.150 points to 75.280.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 81 and 14 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.48% or 5.95 to $1254.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.09% or 0.56 to hit $51.71 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.56 to trade at $54.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0651, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8534.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 100.56.
