Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 8.82% or 0.090 points to trade at 1.110 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 3.26% or 0.49 points to end at 15.52 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 2.00% or 0.010 points to 0.520 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 1.32% or 4.00 points to trade at 292.00 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 0.65% or 0.48 points to end at 73.50 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 0.60% or 0.10 points to 16.28.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 21 and 41 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.79% or 0.42 to $52.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.57% or 0.32 to hit $55.69 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1195.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.29% to 334.550, while USD/NGN fell 0.51% to 315.370.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 101.31.
