Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Chemical/Bio & Medical care sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.26% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cyberpower (TW:3617), which rose 10.00% or 10.50 points to trade at 115.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Kaori Heat (TW:8996) added 9.90% or 4.00 points to end at 44.40 and Au Optronics (TW:2409) was up 5.65% or 0.51 points to 9.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chlitina (TW:4137), which fell 10.00% or 33.50 points to trade at 301.50 at the close. Grand Ocean (TW:5907) declined 10.00% or 2.30 points to end at 20.70 and Tpk Holding (TW:3673) was down 9.93% or 6.70 points to 60.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 617 to 229 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grand Ocean (TW:5907) fell to all time lows; down 10.00% or 2.30 to 20.70. Shares in Tpk Holding (TW:3673) fell to all time lows; falling 9.93% or 6.70 to 60.80.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.82% or 0.89 to $30.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.26% or 0.71 to hit $30.88 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.50 to trade at $1094.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.41% to 33.453, while TWD/CNY rose 0.36% to 0.1968.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 98.70.
