Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT), which rose 2.16% or 0.3150 points to trade at 14.8750 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 1.68% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.1820 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.61% or 0.0003 points to 0.0189 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae (LS:YSO), which lost 2.57% or 0.0180 points to trade at 0.6820 in late trade. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) declined 2.03% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.5800 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) shed 1.96% or 0.0560 points to 2.8030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 37 to 13 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was down 1.53% or 0.67 to $43.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.86% or 0.78 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.51% or 6.85 to trade at $1341.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1083, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 96.59.
