Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 3.12% or 1.77 points to trade at 58.47 at the close. NN Group (AS:NN) added 2.06% or 0.52 points to end at 25.79 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.86% or 0.870 points to 47.770 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.10% or 0.120 points to trade at 5.604 in late trade. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 1.02% or 0.26 points to end at 25.34 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) shed 0.89% or 0.20 points to 22.16.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 76 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.48% to 18.61.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.89% or 1.42 to $47.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.91% or 1.48 to hit $49.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.45 to trade at $1343.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.54% to 0.8614.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 94.53.
