Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which rose 2.18% or 80.0 points to trade at 3755.0 at the close. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 2.12% or 14.10 points to end at 680.00 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) was up 1.48% or 13 points to 893 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which lost 5.24% or 0.0067 points to trade at 0.1213 in late trade. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 4.02% or 370.0 points to end at 8830.0 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) shed 3.65% or 12.10 points to 319.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 144 to 75 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.93% to 32.760.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.92% or 11.65 to $1273.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.25% or 0.64 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.54 to trade at $51.97 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.87% to 64.1676, while EUR/RUB rose 0.34% to 72.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
