Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Transportation & Logistics and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 3.07%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.62%, and the TecDAX index gained 2.73%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 5.07% or 0.665 points to trade at 13.780 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 4.97% or 0.770 points to end at 16.250 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 4.67% or 1.130 points to 25.310 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which rose 1.20% or 2.150 points to trade at 181.800 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 1.74% or 2.150 points to end at 125.400 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.88% or 1.390 points to 75.230.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 5.78% to 35.250, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 4.60% to settle at 34.765 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 4.44% to close at 28.245.
The worst performers were Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (DE:CLSGn) which was up 0.08% to 24.605 in late trade, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which gained 0.41% to settle at 7.663 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 0.89% to 48.190 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 9.34% to 10.780, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was up 6.48% to settle at 57.200 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 4.60% to close at 30.615.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 1.05% to 31.600 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which lost 0.18% to settle at 2.850 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 0.29% to 3.866 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 533 to 161 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) rose to all time highs; rising 6.48% or 3.480 to 57.200.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.89% to 24.40.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.23% or 2.40 to $1061.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.84% or 1.03 to hit $37.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.06% or 0.79 to trade at $38.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7251.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 98.27.
