Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Biotech & Medical Care and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Coadna (TW:4984), which rose 9.98% or 4.90 points to trade at 54.00 at the close. Microtek Intl (TW:2305) added 9.89% or 0.63 points to end at 7.00 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) was up 8.99% or 3.10 points to 37.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included L&K Eng (TW:6139), which lost 9.85% or 2.70 points to trade at 24.70 in late trade. Unitech Printed Circuit Board (TW:2367) declined 8.74% or 0.90 points to end at 9.40 and Apcb Inc (TW:6108) shed 7.74% or 1.25 points to 14.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 408 to 350 and 88 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.32% or 0.61 to $46.82 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.32% or 0.63 to hit $48.46 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.83% or 10.50 to trade at $1283.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.14% to 32.668, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1995.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.58.
