Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 0.17% or 0.16 points to trade at 97.07 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) fell 0.15% or 0.08 points to end at 54.45 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 0.36% or 0.40 points to 111.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.74% or 2.05 points to trade at 72.81 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 1.91% or 0.75 points to end at 38.42 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 1.77% or 0.560 points to 31.075.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 42 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 5.00 to $1352.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.62% or 0.74 to hit $46.48 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.47% or 0.71 to trade at $49.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.1275, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8658.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.84% at 94.78.
