Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.43%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which rose 2.65% or 0.48 points to trade at 18.82 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) added 2.38% or 0.197 points to end at 8.490 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) was up 1.65% or 0.85 points to 52.29 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.71% or 0.204 points to trade at 5.291 in late trade. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) declined 1.97% or 3.05 points to end at 151.70 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.85% or 0.90 points to 47.47.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Biomerieux (PA:BIOX) which rose 8.21% to 136.35, Numericable SFR SA (PA:SFRGR) which was up 5.58% to settle at 23.850 and Iliad (PA:ILD) which gained 4.14% to close at 184.85.
The worst performers were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 3.71% to 5.291 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 3.59% to settle at 3.971 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was down 2.72% to 78.23 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 338 to 314 and 111 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.23% to 18.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.75 to $1311.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.43% or 1.59 to hit $44.76 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.43% or 1.67 to trade at $47.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1163, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8495.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.97.
