Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.84% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which rose 26.09% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.029 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) added 13.58% or 0.011 points to end at 0.092 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) was up 4.31% or 0.10 points to 2.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which fell 8.92% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.143 at the close. Reds (AT:CAMr) declined 8.83% or 0.037 points to end at 0.382 and Iaso (AT:IASr) was down 6.83% or 0.038 points to 0.518.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 56 to 41 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.97% or 11.40 to $1166.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.30% or 0.60 to hit $45.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.51 to trade at $48.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.7340.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.89.
