Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Rubber, Pharmaceutical Industry and Food sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 3.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (TOKYO:6773), which rose 2.73% or 6.0 points to trade at 226.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Meidensha Corp. (TOKYO:6508) added 1.28% or 5.0 points to end at 396.0 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TOKYO:7003) was down 0.53% or 1.0 points to 188.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tosoh Corp. (TOKYO:4042), which fell 10.12% or 58.0 points to trade at 515.0 at the close. The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5101) declined 9.11% or 217.0 points to end at 2165.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4523) was down 7.51% or 621.0 points to 7653.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1829 to 47.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 17.92% to 39.16.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.87% or 1.41 to $47.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.55% or 1.38 to hit $52.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.88% or 10.00 to trade at $1142.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.61% to 120.50, while EUR/JPY rose 0.12% to 136.06.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 95.44.
