The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.94% or 24.00 points to trade at 840.00 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.44% or 40.00 points to end at 1678.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG) was up 2.34% or 90.00 points to 3937.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which lost 3.00% or 23.50 points to trade at 759.00 in late trade. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 2.04% or 54.00 points to end at 2595.00 and Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) shed 1.75% or 54.00 points to 3040.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1128 to 853 and 420 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.51% or 6.45 to $1247.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.37% or 0.68 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.44 to trade at $52.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.47% to 1.2493, while EUR/GBP fell 0.85% to 0.8585.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 100.02.
